About the project
ResUpdates is a simple app designed for older adults in apartment buildings that brings all important updates like maintenance notices, water shutoffs, and events into one clear and easy to read place. It solves the problem of scattered and hard to access information, helping residents stay informed, connected, and more involved in their community.
Problem statement
"I am a senior resident living in a multi-unit apartment building navigating the cognitive and physical shifts of aging, who needs to reliably receive and understand important building and community updates because information is spread across multiple channels and often difficult to read, causing him to miss notices and feel increasingly disconnected from his environment. "
Our solution
Design System
Building name: always on display. Can be tapped on to change.
Screen name + back button: are always shown to indicate what screen the user is on. Back button ensures the comfort that user can always go back.
Settings icon: shown on top right corner, can be accessed anytime to change accessibility, typography, sizing, and more!
Card design: Very simple and clear with consistent layout and design throughout. Illustration provides a quick look at what the event/update is. Along with a title and other details below.
Button designs: Large with large text. Used in different colours to indicate priority and type of action.
Navigation bar: Showcases all main pages for user to easily access. We have the home button ensuring user can always go back if they want to restart. Events and updates for a quick switch if on a different page. And the profile page. Lastly, the HELP button is a new, unconventional addition, we usually see this in the settings or profile page but here we have it to put a user’s tech anxiety at ease where they can tap if they need help anywhere, anytime on the app.
